The Malta temples date from the early Neolithic period, around 5,500 to 2,500 BCE. They are listed as the oldest free standing structures in the world. Numerous archaeoastronomical<\/strong> studies<\/strong> have attempted to describe their orientation and also change in the orientation between temples of different time periods.<\/p>\r\n In this tour we explore three main sites, Tarxien<\/strong>, Hagar Qim<\/strong> and Mnajdra<\/strong>, and Ggantija<\/strong>. We will also see the Malta National Museum of Archaeology<\/strong>. The highlight of our tour is the equinox sunrise from the Mnajdra temples<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n During the tour, Marc will explain their history, theories, and pseudo-theories around their origin and purpose.<\/p>","wp_travel_outline":" Our trip starts in Malta<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n Upon arrival<\/strong> you will head to your apartment by taking a bus, taxi, or walking from the airport.<\/p>\r\n After that we will take the bus and visit the National Museum of Archaeology<\/strong> and the Tarxien temples<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n On day 2<\/strong> we will visit Ggantja and Hagar Qim sites<\/strong> by shared ride.
