The mountains of Romania remain a mystery as there is little evidence of what is known as the practice of the archaeology of the mountains<\/em>. Many discoveries are accidental, by hikers, mountaineers, or climbers. This was also the case with the discovery of the open-air sanctuary<\/strong> from the Tarcu Mountains back in 2017. Together with a team of archaeologists, Marc has studied the petroglyphs <\/strong>there and published his own theory which he’ll be happy to share with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The start point of your adventure is the city of Timisoara, an easily accessible place by air (several daily low-cost flights from many European countries) or by car (from central Europe or the Balkans).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this 2-day trip<\/strong>, we will explore the amazing region located at about 1600 m altitude, visiting the mysterious petroglyph<\/strong> and other places full of legends that we’ll get to know. To add to your adventure, you’ll have the chance of discovering the petroglyph by yourself. At nighttime (if weather permits) we will learn the unique Romanian starlore<\/strong>. The high mountain area is ideal for stargazing <\/strong>through its dark sky properties. Prices range from 65 EUR to 421 EUR<\/strong> per person depending on the group size (up to 6 persons) and transportation mode (bus\/private car) and include transportation, accommodation, and the professional tour guide. If the tour takes place around the summer solstice there is also the opportunity to witness the sunrise from the site and to experience the solar alignments<\/em> with the distant mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n
